FEE (フィー, also known as FEE-chan フィーちゃん, codename: CCD-0500) is a Japanese Talk Voice developed by U-Stella Inc. in collaboration with Techno-Speech, Inc., and was released for CeVIO AI in November 2021.[1]
Her voice provider is the voice actress Asaka Imai (今井麻夏), who also provided her vocals for FEE's Voidol library.
Concept[]
FEE is conceptualized as a "general-purpose android 'Caricature' (カリカチュア)" that was born in present day to support the every life scene of people.[2]. FEE is noted to have a calm and quiet, but occasionally playful personality, with above-average intelligence. While she has intelligence, she lacks experience, so she does not know how to use the five senses. FEE likes reading and gaining knowledge.[3] She is the younger sister of UNI, another Caricature android created by U-Stella Inc..
On August 26, 2021, FEE's initial age of seventeen was changed to eighteen. Her initial concept was changed and various images were removed after receiving backlash due to the portrayal of the character.[4]
She was illustrated by Kokage Tomori, a character designer from Japan. [5]

FEE is an android with the appearance of a eighteen-year-old girl. Her design is futuristic and cute. She wears a baggy white sleeveless dress. Around the collar of the dress is a short sky blue tie and black tie clip. The cape-like fins attach to the back of the skirt. Over her dress is a blue and white jacket with black detailing on the sleeves. On the left shoulder is what appears to be a barcode. The jacket is worn loosely, and it is only partially zipped up. She wears long black socks that reach her mid thigh. The socks have a blue stripe at the top, and a white stripe running down the sides. On her feet are a pair of white and black sneakers with light blue straps. She has short light pink hair with two long pieces in the front, and thick bangs. On the left piece of hair is a blue diamond print. She has two barrettes in her hair: one is shaped like a backwards 'E', and the other circular. FEE wears a black headset. Her eyes are a blueish-purple color.

FEE was released for the Voidol AI voice conversion application on August 6, 2021.[20]
FEE-themed merchandise, including an acrylic stand featuring her key image for CeVIO, was announced for distribution via lottery over Twitter on August 22 and ran until August 31. One winner was selected.[21]
Various 3D models were made with her likeness for use in apps, such as VR-Chat and other 3D programs, as well as a model built for the Live2D animation software.[22][23] On December 31, 2021, a new 3D model of FEE's CeVIO AI design was released on the official U-Stella Inc. BOOTH.[24][25] Various promotional images and a cursor pack featuring FEE's CeVIO design were released for free as well on the official BOOTH account.[26][27][28][29]
Sample package versions of FEE's CeVIO AI Talk Voice were on display at the CeVIO FeSTA 7 event.[30] The packaged editions of FEE's Talk Voice and Talk Starter Pack as well as a special "First-Run Only" edition were later released for pre-order purchase on December 9, 2022 with general purchase available on December 23, through Amazon and other retailers.[31][32]

Following the announcement of FEE's CeVIO AI library, U-Stella Inc. received backlash over FEE's portrayal due to her age being reminiscent of a 17 year old and how overtly sexualized she was being portrayed, including nude reference sheets of the character and the official 3D model being able to be completely stripped. Shortly after, FEE's age was changed to 18 and the nude references, and the mention of "sex" in the general usage of Caricature androids were removed. An exact reason for this change was not given.[33] Chairman of U-Stella Inc. Shiratori Koyomi noted that the physical package versions of FEE were among one of the many major reasons why the company has begun to collapse, noting that this was a very "deficit" product that is very particular about both the exterior and the interior, that ignores the company's budget and income.[34] |
