History[]

2018[]

On December 14, samples using AI incorporation were uploaded to Techno-Speech, Inc. featuring an update for the IA ENGLISH C vocal. [1] This technology would later be incorporated into the CeVIO AI voice synthesis engine.

2020[]

On July 22, 2020, 1st Place, in collaboration with TechnoSpeech, announced that updates for IA TALK and ONE TALK were in development for CeVIO AI as well Song Voices for flower and Yuzuki Yukari. [2][3]

2021[]

Information regarding IA and ONE's CeVIO AI libraries was to be announced on January 21, 2021 during the IA 9th & ONE 6th Anniversary ‒Super LIVESHOW- broadcast on the IA & ONE OFFICIAL YouTube channel. This was later moved to January 27. During the IA 9th & ONE 6th Anniversary ‒Super LIVESHOW- event, an update of IA's Talk Voice library for CeVIO AI (now simply known as IA TALK) was unveiled. Two additional voice libraries were announced for IA, including an update For IA ENGLISH C (now known as IA SONG ENGLISH) and a new Japanese voicebank (known as IA SONG).

On March 9, IA & ONE's official Twitter issued a statement regarding the demonstrations for IA TALK and ONE TALK, apologizing for not having a proper demonstration released just days before the release of the voice libraries. To account for this, 1st Place announced that the reservation discount period would be extended until March 31, however the release would still occur on March 12.[4] Samples of CeVIO AI IA TALK were uploaded on March 10. It was revealed that IA TALK would have four expressions: Normal, Bright, Strong and Dark. CeVIO AI IA TALK was officially released on March 12 as intended.[5]

On July 27, a demo of IA SONG ENGLISH was previewed during an ARIAers TV official broadcast. A cover of "STAY GOLD" was used to show off the new song voice library. It was stated thereafter that there was a delay of the initial May release.[6]

On August 27, during an ARIAers TV broadcast, IA's Japanese Song Voice library for CeVIO AI was announced for release on October 27. Demonstrations of both CeVIO AI ONE SONG and IA SONG were shown, both demos featuring a cover of "Otsukimi Recital".[7] It was announced that digital and physical versions would be available and details for the pre-order reservation period would be announced at a later date.[8]

On October 8, 1st PLACE formally announced IA and ONE's CeVIO AI Song Voice release dates and revealed package details and pre-order reservation dates for package releases including the following[9]:

  • IA AI SONG ENGLISH
  • IA AI SONG DUO PACKAGE
  • ONE AI SONG
  • ONE AI SONG STARTER PACK

Demonstrations of each library were uploaded to 1st PLACE's new SoundCloud channel. IA AI SONG receiving three demonstrations including[10]: "あの夏に咲いた花", "オツキミリサイタル", and "キミノヨゾラ哨戒班", while IA AI SONG ENGLISH receiving two demonstrations[11]: "REZONA" and "STAY GOLD" respectively. A full version of "あの夏に咲いた花" was uploaded to producer 夜のロサンゼルス's YouTube channel.[12]

IA AI SONG and IA AI SONG ENGLISH were officially released on October 27 as intended.[13]

  • Her voice sounds quite different from her VOCALOID variants when utilized in its raw state; she has a different tone and seems younger. The AI treatment could be to blame for this.
Software issues as noted:
  • [All versions] In contrast to her VOCALOID voicebanks, IA lost two notes at the top of her range (her V3 had a range of B2-A4, which equates to B3-A5, currently her upper recommended note is only G5) and a significant portion of her tempo range (63-228BPM for the original V3 bank to only 70-130BPM). When comparing AI voicebanks to their more "standard" equivalents, this is something that is discovered to be rather frequent.
    • When left unedited, this causes her to stumble over quick tempos and results in a "slurred" performance. This is fixed, though, by manually shifting the vowels' timing such that they start at the beginning of the note.
  • [1.X] IA occasionally pronounces some phonemes incorrectly in notes when they are left unedited and use standard phonemes, particularly when the phoneme ends in "e". For instance, IA can sing "te" as "ta" or "de" as "da". This is fixed by adding a brief [h] note at the end (1/32q).
