The Musical Isotope Project (音楽的同位体, Ongakuteki Dōitai) , also known as the ARTIFICAL SINGING SYNTHESIZER project or the VIP -Virtual Isotope Phenomenon- project is a series developed by KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO in July 2021 with the creation of the first vocal in the project, KAFU. The Musical Isotope Project, is a brand of synthetic vocal synthesis software developed in collaboration with CeVIO Project based on the singing voices of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO's virtual singers: KAF, Isekaijoucho, RIM, KOKO and Harusaruhi, that were conceptualized with a set of creative rules.

Concept[]

The Musical Isotope Project, which was created and developed from the theme of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO's virtual singers, and noted to "expand the possibilities of girls who love singing," is a line of singing voice synthesis software that can realistically reproduce human singing voices using the latest AI technology.[1]

In a note released by the project development lead PIEDPIPER (also known as KAMITSUBAKI P) on March 3, 2022, he details that from the beginning concept, the Musical Isotopes were governed by four clear rules in the creative realm and elaborated the first three such as:

  • Sharing an appearance with the virtual singers themselves
  • Making the name "two Kanji characters"
  • Essentially, "redesigning the original costume" of the virtual singers themselves with a white coloring.

It was stated that an important factor is that the original character design is shared and interlocked, but with a strong emphasis on the person and not on the person at the same time. The Isotope Project is a project that promotes the "UGC" (user-generated content) aspect, and stems from the desire to have users "dye it in various colors". SEKAI's design, for example, was changed to white based on Isekaijoucho's original costume. It was noted that SEKAI's illustrator reoenl was asked to redesign the original virtual singer's costume, but based on the above rules rather than having total creative freedom of the design to which the illustrator achieved.

The fourth rule was stated to be that all five Virtual Witch Phenomenon AI singers would debut in the future based on the vocals of KAF, RIM, Isekaijoucho, Harusaruhi, and KOKO respectively. PIEDPIPER's thought was that the appearance of the five characters standing side by side was very important, and that the color scheme and design are finalized while looking at the balance of the five characters side by side. While trying not to change the original costume design of the five virtual singers, KAF, RIM, Isekaijoucho, Harusaruhi, and KOKO too much, the color scheme is boldly changed to a white base, and no other to avoid appropriating the creatives of the artists involved.[2] PIEDPIPER's belief is that making things is more interesting when there are restrictions.[3]
